After almost six years of dating, Kate and Evan were planning to have a summer wedding at Celebrations at the Bay in Pasadena, Maryland. For their wedding present, Kate’s brother and his wife were planning to give Kate and Evan a wedding planner to provide wedding coordination on the day of the wedding. They had seen Danielle from Wolf’s Weddings by Kathleen in action and knew they wanted her to be the person to help with their sister’s big day. Kate’s sister-in-law asked Danielle about providing the coordination services and Danielle was more than happy to help out!
Kate and Evan found out about their wedding present five months before the wedding and were ecstatic. Kate quickly contacted Danielle to schedule a meeting with her. The month of meeting was scheduled for the beginning of June. When the meeting day arrived Danielle met Kate, her mother, and sister-in-law at the wedding venue. They all walked the grounds and discussed details about the ceremony and reception. Danielle was very excited to help with a wedding at this beautiful venue. The ceremony was scheduled to take place at 6:00 at a location that had a breathtaking view overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. The bride and groom would exchange vows on top of a grassy hill under a stunning white metal pergola. A cocktail hour would take place right after the ceremony followed by a reception inside a tent.
Following the month of meeting, Danielle and Kate remained in contact until the wedding day arrived. They worked together to finalize ideas and confirm details with vendors. It was a very smooth planning process. Throughout the process, Danielle learned she would get to put her great artistic abilities to use on the wedding day. To complement her beach theme, Kate wanted the wedding cake decorated with sea shells and crumbled graham crackers to give the appearance of sand. The bakery told Kate that adding these decorations was not something they do. Kate asked Danielle if she would be comfortable with adding those items and of course Danielle was glad to help!
After weeks of finalizing all of the details, the wedding day finally came. The weather was exactly what everyone had been hoping for. Danielle and her assistant, Emely, arrived early to start setting up. In addition to the cake, a lot of detail was put into making all of the décor just right. Centerpieces were glass bowls filled with sand and an assortment of seashells and sea glass. Small pieces of driftwood were also incorporated into the centerpiece. In the middle of each centerpiece was a bottle with the name of body of water in Maryland. Guests were assigned to tables based on the name of the body of water in each bottle. The gift table area was decorated with a large trunk which displayed photos of Kate and Evan. Photographs of family members who had passed away were also placed on the table in remembrance. To keep in line with the beach theme, beach elements such as sand and shells were placed around the area. Small messages in bottles written by the bride and groom were also displayed.
As Danielle and Emely were finishing the set-up, Kate and her bridesmaids began arriving at the venue. They were given a clubhouse to get ready in and enjoy their time together before the ceremony began. Danielle and Emely kept a special eye on the girls. One of Kate’s bridesmaids was pregnant and was just two days away from her due date. Kate had made it very clear that she wanted to make sure the ceremony took place with all of her bridesmaids present! Danielle kept checking on this bridesmaid to make sure she was able to rest throughout the day.
Shortly after the girls were in the clubhouse, Evan and his groomsmen arrived to the venue. After the guys arrived the time seemed to fly by. Soon it was then time for everyone to get in their places for the ceremony. Danielle and Emely lined the girls up in the carriage house and the guys around the house. The door the girls were going to exit from lined up perfectly with the beginning of the aisle. The pergola was decorated with flowers at the end of the aisle where the bride was to meet her groom. Danielle gave the cue and Kate’s cousin began playing his guitar to start the ceremony.
After the ceremony the cocktail hour took place followed by the reception. As part of the evening, Kate and Evan wanted to include a tradition called the apron dance. Kate explained that it was a chance for each guest to get a chance to dance with the bride and groom. A special concept that gave guests a chance to have an intimate moment to congratulate the new couple personally. When it was time for the apron dance guests lined up to have their turn dancing with the newly married couple. Everyone enjoyed getting to have this one on one time with the couple.
The rest of the night went off without a hitch. The DJ kept the night light and fun, playing just what the crowd wanted to hear. Dance moves and laughter filled the room. The joy and love between the bride and groom was apparent from the “I do’s” to their final departure. The entire wedding was a beautiful love story that Danielle and Emely were delighted to have been a part of.
